You will be picked up from your hotel in Jerusalem and transferred to the Allenby Bridge border crossing.
After border crossing procedures, our Jordanian representative will escort you to Madaba to join your tour guide and group. Madaba is known for its many Byzantine mosaics. Visit St. George’s Church to see the oldest known map of the holy land in a mosaic floor. Continue to nearby Mt. Nebo, the traditional burial site of Moses overlooking the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley. Then drive through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak to visit the Crusader castle there.
Drive south to Petra for overnight.

Today you have a full-day tour of magnificent Petra! Ride on horseback to the siq (canyon) and continue through the siq on foot to Petra. Known as Sela Edom or Red Rock City, Petra was the capital of the Nabataeans from the 3rd-century BCE to the 2nd-century CE. Just some of the sites you’ll see as you walk through the ancient city are the famous Treasury, the Roman Theater, the Urn Tomb, Qasr al-Bint, and the Temple of the Winged Lion.
Return to Wadi Musa and your hotel for overnight. |
|
After breakfast, drive south to the towering mountains and rock formations of Wadi Rum. Take a short 4X4 tour into the awesome landscape. Then drive north to Amman for overnight.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Allenby Bridge border crossing and on to Jerusalem.

Travel Tips
Most of the year, except for the winter months of December through March, is hot and dry.
The winter months can be drizzly, damp and cool; snowing occasionally in Amman and the
mountains. Even the summer evenings may be cool. Aqaba on the Red Sea is usually a few
degrees warmer and sunny throughout the year.
The best time to visit is mid-March to mid-May and mid-September through October.
A valid passport and visa are required for Americans to enter Jordan. Visas can be obtained upon entry unless crossing into Jordan from Israel at the Allenby Bridge border crossing, in which case you must get your visa in advance. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival into Jordan.
Yellow fever certificate is required if you are arriving from an infected area.
Contact health authorities for the latest information.
The language of Jordan is Arabic. English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
Conservative dress is recommended. It is best for both men and women to keep shoulders and legs fairly well covered. Loose, flowing garments in natural fibers (cotton, linen) are ideal for the heat. A sweater is advisable for the cool summer evenings or winter travel. Sun hat, sunglasses and plenty of fluids help to cope with the heat.
The currency of Jordan is the Dinar.
The electric current is 220 volts AC 50 cycle. The wall plugs are the round, two pronged European type; bring an adapter if necessary.
