This private Rhodes shore excursion tour is guaranteed to operate with a minimum of 2 passengers.

You will be met at the port to begin your tour.

Drive along the east coast of Rhodes to Lindos, the most beautiful village on the island. The village has been declared a monument for preservation and so has been able to retain most of its traditional color and charm. Above the white homes of Lindos and the blue of the Aegean rises the acropolis, sacred to the goddess Athena Lyndia and a mighty fortress.
The ancient sanctuary is built on ascending terraces, with the Temple of Athena Lyndia (4th century BCE) at the highest point. Also within the acropolis are the remains of a Byzantine Church and the fortification of the Knights of St. John. From the top you can look down on St. Paul’s Bay, where it is said the apostle first set foot on the island in the year 52 CE.

Down from the acropolis, there will be time to walk the narrow streets of Lindos, visit its medieval church, shop or sit to have a cool drink in one of many cafes.

Board your touring vehicle for the medieval Old Town of Rhodes. Take a walking tour to see the Street of Knights and the mighty Grand Master’s Palace.

After touring Old Town, you will have time to browse some of the many shops.

At the end of the day, you will transferred to the port to join your cruise.

One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was the Colossus of Rhodes, a statue of the sun god Helios that stood 100 feet tall at the entrance of the Rhodes harbor. The statue was built to celebrate the island's victory against siege by Antigonus I Monophthalmus, one of the generals of Alexander the Great. The statue was largely composed of reforged, abandoned siege weapons. The statue stood for only 56 years and was destroyed by an earthquake in 226BCE.

Climate
Greece has a warm Mediterranean climate. In summer, dry hot days are often relieved by stiff breezes known as Meltemia, especially in the north and coastal areas. In the summer, Athens can be stiflingly hot, so visitors should allow time to acclimatize. The evenings are cool. Winters are mild in the south but much colder in the north. November to March is the rainy season.

The best time to visit is mid-May to mid-June and mid-September to the end of October.

Late June to September is hot, with low temperatures in the 70’s and highs in the 90’s. Winter months are generally fine for touring, but usually too cold to swim or lie on the beach. Average winter temperatures are a low of 44 and a high of 60. Greece has fairly little rain year-round.

Documentation
A valid passport is required for entry into Greece. A visa must be obtained from the Greek Consulate if you intend to stay for longer than 3 months. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival into Greece.

Shots
Yellow fever certificate is required if you are arriving from an infected area.

Dress
Cool, loose cotton clothing is recommended for most of the year. In the winter a light coat and sweat shirt is advisable. Sun hat, sunglasses and plenty of fluids help to cope with the heat.

Currency
As a member of the EU, Greece’s currency is the Euro. Money can be exchanged at banks and hotels as well as money changers and ATM’s.

Electricity
The electric current is 220 volts AC. The wall plugs are the round, two pronged European type; bring an adapter if necessary.

Deposit and Payment Policy:
• A deposit of $500 per person, per country booked is required
upon booking the tour.
• Final payment is due sixty days prior to departure.
• If booking within 21 days of travel, an additional fee of $75 per person will apply.
• A change fee of $50 per person will apply to any changes made by the traveler after confirmation has been sent.

Cancellations & Refunds:
Transportation, lodging, meals, entertainment and other services are sold on a partially refundable basis depending upon the date, in relation
to the departure date, such services are cancelled. The cancellation fees and calculations are set forth below:

• 61 days or more prior to departure, a service fee of $100 per person, per country will apply.
• If a tour is cancelled 60 days or less from departure date and full payment has not been received in our office, the deposit will then be forfeited in full.
• Once full payment has been received, any refund made will be subject to a $75 per person administration fee.
• 59 to 30 days prior to departure, a cancellation fee of 50% of the tour cost will apply.
• 29 to 15 days prior to departure, a cancellation fee of 75% of the tour cost will apply.
• 14 days or less prior to departure, a cancellation fee of 100% of the tour cost will apply.
• No refund will apply to any unused services including but not limited to flights, accommodations, touring, meals and/or transportation.
